When Makenzie and Garrett told me they were planning a colorful Flagstaff spring wedding, I knew they’d deliver something incredible. Makenzie is a Pinterest queen after all! But WOW did they take their vision to a whole other level. They nailed every detail you could want for a picture-perfect spring celebration, creating a day as fun and full of personality as they are!
Bright and Vibrant Details
Let’s talk style and decor at Makenzie and Garrett’s wedding—they perfectly captured the vibrant, garden party vibe they were going for! The whimsical accents, colorful flower arrangements, and dreamy pastel color palette set the scene beautifully for their spring-inspired celebration. Plus, their venue, Aldea Weddings in the Woods, was the perfect backdrop—surrounding guests in a lush forest, rolling meadows, and all the beauty Northern Arizona has to offer (without the scorching heat the rest of the state is dealing with this time of year!).

It was so fun to see how Makenzie and Garrett transformed the venue to perfectly capture their vision, right down to the bright signs, colorful pens for their guest book, and wildflower-covered wedding cake. As a photographer who is ALL about couples embracing their unique vision, I had a blast capturing every colorful moment of this day.
Creating a Celebration All Their Own
Makenzie and Garrett didn’t just focus on the aesthetic details—they went above and beyond to make the entire celebration uniquely theirs! It was especially touching to see how they incorporated their faith, which is something very important to both of them. They even made time before the ceremony for a first touch, prayer, and private vow exchange—a sweet way to connect and spend time together before the busy day kicked off. They also had a special communion during the ceremony, which was a perfect way to celebrate their beliefs and symbolize their lives blending together as one.
But they didn’t stop there! Makenzie and Garrett added elements that showed off their fun-loving personalities too. They had a carefully curated reception playlist with all their favorite songs, brought out cowboy hats and fun props for guests during the reception, and even had Raising Canes for a special late night treat! It’s those personal touches that truly make a wedding special, and I loved getting to photograph every single one.
Meaningful Moments and Unforgettable Memories
The magic of Makenzie and Garrett’s day went beyond the decor and meaningful details. It was also in the deep sense of community shared with their friends and family! Their support and joy were contagious throughout the day—shedding happy tears during the ceremony, cheering them on during their first kiss, and giving the sweetest toasts and speeches. They even added to the colorful spring atmosphere with their colorful sundresses and floral prints!
Makenzie and Garrett showed their love right back, making sure their community was front and center during their celebrations. They even played the wedding songs of their married guests during dinner, which was such a unique thoughtful touch! Another favorite moment was when Makenzie dedicated the bouquet to her mom to honor her and the closeness they shared during the bouquet toss instead of tossing it to the crowd. It was a beautiful way to honor her and a moment that meant so much to both of them.
They ended the night with a lively celebration, bringing all that love and positive energy straight to the dance floor. As a photographer who deeply values family and community connections, I couldn’t get enough of this group! You could feel the love between them all, and it shines through in every single photo.
