Carissa and Keegan’s Enchanted Forest Wedding in Flagstaff was such a cool twist on the typical “fairytale” wedding. They had this amazing vision for a gothic, moody atmosphere for their big day, and from the moment we began discussing their wedding plans, I was so excited to be a part of it.

Woodsy Gothic Romance
Carissa and Keegan transformed their wedding venue, Aldea Weddings in the Woods, into an enchanting dark forest wonderland. Tucked away amidst the thick woods, with dark cabins and a wild open meadow, it was the perfect setting for their magical day.

Their thoughtful decorations really set the mood just right, transporting guests into a scene straight out of a Grimm’s Fairytale. Wildflowers and greenery filled every corner, lanterns and candles cast a cozy glow, and sparkling crystals brought a touch of magic to the atmosphere. Every detail added to the atmosphere of dark romance, capturing their creativity and deep love for each other perfectly.
Making The Day Their Own
Carissa and Keegan made sure their wedding day was truly their own, right down to getting the exact photos they’d been dreaming of. They had their hearts set on capturing some special portraits in front of their beautiful A-frame house, which happened to be close to the venue. So we came up with a fun plan: why not sneak away after the ceremony for a few dope shots? Then, we could make it back to the reception before anyone even realized they were gone? Some might think that’s crazy but they were all in, and I was thrilled to make it happen.
As I have said, the happiest couples are the ones who do it their way. Now, Carissa and Keegan have these amazing photos in their favorite spot to treasure and look back on their wedding day forever. And all it took was a little creativity and thinking outside the box! Bringing these ideas to life is one of the best parts of being a photographer. It’s what I love doing most.

They also had this sweet idea to showcase old wedding photos from both their families on a table, which was a touching tribute to the generations who came before them. As a wedding photographer who’s all about family, seeing how much they valued their loved ones being part of their big day was really special to me.
